Around the country, numerous chamber of commerce scholarships are awarded to local high school students entering college. A Chamber of commerce scholarship is typically awarded on a highly localized level. The eligibility requirements for these club scholarships may vary based on the goals of the local chamber. Award amounts as well as deadlines for applying for chamber scholarships may vary as well. When applying for a commerce scholarship, it is extremely important to make certain you check with your local chamber regarding eligibility requirements and all relevant deadlines.

California Black Chamber of Commerce Scholarships

While some chamber of commerce scholarships are awarded on local levels within cities and communities, there are some chamber of commerce organizations that award the club scholarships on a broader level. For instance, the California Black Chamber of Commerce Foundation awards a youth scholarship in an effort to support, assist and encourage students and young entrepreneurs in terms of community service, scholastic achievement and empowerment in the technology and business development.

The California Black Chamber of Commerce Foundation Scholarship is awarded annually to youth who are involved actively in reaching community service and entrepreneur goals within technology and business industries. In order to be eligible for the commerce scholarship, you must be either a high school graduate or within your first year of college. Applicants are further required to have a minimum 2.0 GPA to qualify. These chamber of commerce scholarships awards are in the amount of $1,000 and are awarded on a competitive basis. Entrepreneurial goals, academic achievement and community service are considered. Applicants are typically required to submit an essay or personal statement along with letters of recommendation and academic records.

 USPAACC Chamber of Commerce Scholarships

Other chamber of commerce scholarships include those awarded through the US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce. This organization, which has a strong interest in investing in future leaders, sponsors club scholarships on an annual basis. More than one million dollars have been provided in chamber scholarship funds through this organization since 1989. Currently, approximately 20 different scholarships are awarded through USPAACC. These chamber of commerce scholarships range in value from $4,000 to $5,500. They are awarded to seniors in high school around the country for the purpose of supporting them in achieving their post-secondary education goals. The organization receives more than 2,000 scholarship applications each year. Along with the receipt of the scholarship, chosen applicants also typically receive an all expenses paid trip to the organization’s national conference. High School Scholarships hosted by the organization include the Paul Shearman Allen & Associates Scholarship, the Bruce Lee Scholarship, the Drs. Poh Shien & Judy Young Scholarship, Macy’s Hallmark Scholarship, PepsiCo Hallmark Scholarships, Planned Systems International Scholarship and the UPS Hallmark Scholarships.

United States Junior Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

The United States Junior Chamber of Commerce, also sometimes referred to as the Jaycees, also awards chamber of commerce scholarships annually. These club scholarships are funded through the War Memorial Fund, which was originally established in 1944. Today the goal of the fund remains the provision of educational training. This is accomplished through club scholarships as well as grants and other types of educational programs. Ten chamber scholarships are awarded annually. All applicants must be U.S. citizens and must demonstrate academic and leadership qualities. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need. Each commerce scholarship is worth $1,000. Funds are issued directly to the award recipient’s university or college. Award funds may be applied toward the cost of tuition as well as books, lab fees and other academic costs, including room and board. Applicants must submit a SASE envelope along with a $10 application fee between July 1st and February 1st to the Junior Chamber of Commerce office in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Thomas Wood Baldridge Scholarship is also administered through the Jaycees. One chamber scholarship is awarded on an annual basis. Applicants must be a family member or a descendent of a Jaycee and must also be enrolled in or be accepted to a university or college. All applicants must also be U.S. citizens, demonstrate leadership and academic potential and must demonstrate financial need. The award is worth $3,000. Applications are accepted between July 1st and February 1st. Applications, along with a $10 application fee, must be submitted to the Junior Chamber of Commerce office in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Charles R. Ford Scholarship is administered through the Jaycees. This chamber of commerce scholarship is awarded annually and is worth $2,500. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, demonstrate academic and leadership qualities and financial need. Applications are accepted between July 1st and February 1st. Applications, along with a $10 application fee, must be submitted to the Junior Chamber of Commerce office in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
