Each year the Freemasons award Masons scholarships to well-deserving high school students. The Freemasons are a fraternal organization that operates on an international level. This club is based on ideals of personal morality, public service and the belief in a higher power. Masons groups are divided into local levels known as lodges. Each lodge is responsible for overseeing activities in their own specific region or community. Freemasons are known as being strong advocates of higher education. Some Masonic scholarships may be targeted for the children of other Masons, although some Masonic lodge scholarships may be aimed at assisting other students.

Freemason scholarships also include the Scottish Rite Scholarships. This Masonic scholarship is administered by the Supreme Council of Scottish Rite Masonry, which is the largest Masonic rate in the U.S. A number of different Mason scholarships are offered through this club. They include the Grand Commander Scholarships. These Masons scholarships are intended to provide assistance to students studying at an accredited institute of higher learning in the U.S. The Public School Administration Scholarship is given out to students who are dedicated themselves to public school education and who are engaged in graduate study. Grants are also issued to students who are seeking either undergraduate or graduate degrees at George Washington University. Additionally, the Scottish Rite Graduate Fellowship through George Washington University requires that all students be affiliated with a Scottish Rite Masonic organization in the United States.

Freemasons Scholarships for Non Lodge Members

There are also other Masonic lodge scholarships that do not require students to be affiliated with a Masonic lodge. One of these club scholarships is the Masonic-Range Science Scholarship. This Freemason scholarship is awarded to a senior in high school, a freshman in college or a sophomore in college who has demonstrated an intention to major in a field related to or closely related to science. All applicants for this Freemason’s scholarship must be sponsored by a member of the Society for Range Management or must be a member of the National Association of Conservation Districts. They can also be a member of the Soil and Water Conservation Society.

Applications may be received from September through the middle of January. Applicants are required to submit high school or college transcripts, as applicable. Applicants are also required to submit relevant ACT or SAT scores and a minimum of two recommendation letters. Scholarship amounts have varied in the past, but can be worth up to several thousand dollars. To be considered for these Masonic scholarships it is important to make certain you send in all required materials. moose scholarships — Moose Lodge Scholarships

Consider applying for local Moose Lodge scholarships for those students looking for college funding options and become a member of one of the best clubs in your community. Since 1986, Moose lodges around the country have been providing Moose Lodge club scholarships to qualifying students. In fact, more than 1,200 students have been assisted with Moose scholarships totaling more than $1.2 million since 1986.

R. Robert Dale Moose Lodge Scholarships Program

These club scholarships are offered under the R. Robert Dale Scholarship program. This Lodge scholarship program is held in honor of R. Robert Dale, who was a member of a lodge in St. Charles, Illinois and who left a $1 million gift to the Moose fraternity in the 1980s for the purpose of benefiting children of fellow members. Mr. Dale was not only dedicated to the fraternity, but also served as the Secretary/Administrator of Lodge 1368 in St. Charles, IL. Mr. Dale never married nor had children. His sister had married into wealth, but never had children either. After the death of his sister’s husband, the siblings named one another in their wills. Mr. Dale survived his sister by a few months and died in 1983. Following his death, his estate totaled more than $2 million. Upon his request, the estate was divided equally between the Loyal Order of Moose and the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Home for the purposes of providing club scholarships to eligible youth. The Dale Scholarship Fund now funds academic awards through the R. Robert Dale Scholarship Program.

Any provincial or state Moose Association with at least 15 eligible applicants may draw for a minimum of one R. Robert Dale Scholarship winner. In addition, a Moose Chapter and Lodge may also win an additional Moose scholarship for one of their eligible students if they attain 25 eligible applicants.

Each Moose Lodge scholarship is worth $1,000. In order to be eligible to enter the club scholarship program, students must be current high school juniors. In addition, students may only apply through the Moose membership of their parent, grandparent or legal guardian. Furthermore, to be eligible, students have a minimum GPA of 2.5 based on a 4.0 scale. This is the equivalent of a C+ average. All scholarship applications must be received by no later than June 30th. Moose Lodge scholarship awards may be used to pay for tuition as well as books and fees at any accredited trade school or college.

Applications for Moose Lodge scholarships can be obtained online at the Moose International website, available under the scholarship link. Lodge administrators will need to verify each applicant’s Moose affiliation with a parent, grandparent or legal guardian who is a Moose member.

Moose International is headquartered in Moosehart, Illinois. This fraternal and service organization was originally founded in 1888. Today, membership of the organization totals almost 1.2 million throughout the United States. In addition, the Moose organization also serves communities in Canada, Bermuda and Great Britain. The Moose organization has founded a variety of programs over the years. These programs include the Mooseheart Child City and School. This 1,000 acre school and community is dedicated to serving needy children and teens. It is located approximately 40 miles west of Chicago. Moose International also supports Moosehaven retirement community. This 70 acre campus serves qualified retired Moose members as well as their spouses. The Moosehaven retirement community is located in Orange Park, Florida.

The Moose organization also conducts numerous community service projects throughout North America. The mission of the Moose organization is to strive for excellence in four different areas. These areas are community service within the Moose lodge and chapter system, to provide education and a family environment for children in need, to provide for the needs of senior Moose members who reside at the Moosehaven retirement community and to promote the growth of membership while financially strengthening the fraternity.
